Choosing a disability support provider is a big decision. These questions help you compare providers and find one that fits.

  1. Are you an NDIS registered provider? Registration matters if your plan is NDIA managed, and for some supports, such as SIL, it’s becoming mandatory.
  2. Will I have the same support workers? Consistency is the biggest factor in good support. Ask how they roster and what happens when a worker is sick.
  3. Can I meet workers before they start? A meet-and-greet helps you check personality, interests and communication style.
  4. Do you cover my area? Providers with workers near you usually mean more reliable shifts and less travel charged to your plan.
  5. What will it cost? Ask for prices in writing and check them against the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits.
  6. Do you charge travel or cancellation fees? Get the details in your service agreement.
  7. How do you train and screen workers? Every worker in a risk-assessed role should have an NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  8. How will you keep my family updated? Agree up front who gets updates, how often, and how.
  9. How do I make a complaint? Every provider should have a clear, simple complaints process.
  10. How will you help me reach my goals? Good providers focus on what you want to achieve, not just filling hours.
